Former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai. The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader is reportedly undergoing a check-up to detect blockages in the heart’s coronary arteries. Thackeray visited the HN Reliance Hospital in morning for routine tests and was discharged later in the day.

Sharing an update on Uddhav Thackeray's health, his son Aaditya said, "This morning, Uddhav Thackeray ji did a pre-planned detailed check up at the Sir HN Reliance Hospital. With your best wishes, All is well, and he is fully ready to get to work and serve the people."

Uddhav Thackeray, who suffers from heart complications, underwent an angioplasty in July 2012, where the doctors inserted eight stents to clear multiple blockages in three major arteries of his heart. Later, in November 2012, Thackeray underwent a second angioplasty to address a 60 per cent blockage in his left anterior descending (LAD) artery. Four years later, in 2016, an angiography was conducted at the Lilavati Hospital as a follow-up.

As Maharashtra heads for Assembly election, Thackeray on Sunday said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance will announce their chief ministerial face after the Mahayuti coalition. While Mahayuti comprises BJP, NCP and Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), the MVA includes Congress, Shiv Sena-UBT (Uddhav Thackeray's faction) and NCP-SP (Sharad Pawar's faction).

Addressing a joint press conference, Uddhav Thackeray said, "BJP's condition is so bad, that they are forced to contest under the leadership of thieves and traitors...Let Mahayuti announce their CM face first then we will let you all know who is our CM face. Being in government, Mahayuti should announce their CM face first."

Thackeray also hit out at the Maharashtra government as the killing of senior NCP leader Baba Siddiqui sparked outrage in the state. "Whether it is the arrest of accused in Baba Siddique's murder or encounter of Akshay Shinde (rape accused). Suspicions are being raised on every act of this govt and this is not a good thing. We are not sure who are these arrested accused. They (Maharashtra govt) are keeping tabs on our movements but are not watching the criminals," the former CM said.
