Lord Shiva is believed to be symbolised by a Shivling. It is believed that when a Shivling is worshipped in accordance with the correct procedures, Lord Shiva will be pleased and devotees' wishes will be granted. However, a few items should never be offered to a Shivling, according to Shivpuran. Offering certain things to the Shivling mist bring negative consequences.

7 Things Devotees Must Never Offer To Lord Shiva
1. Tulsi
Sacred Hindu texts state that Lord Shiva destroyed the demon Jalandhar by burning him to ashes, as described in the Shiva Purana. Jalandhar had the good fortune to stay unbeaten by the gods, but his wife Tulsi's purity was essential for this! Thus, to have her husband slain, Lord Vishnu had to violate her chastity. She barred Lord Shiva from being worshipped by her divine leaves since this infuriated and angered her.
2. Coconut Water
After coconut water is offered to deities, it is customary to drink it. Nevertheless, since everything offered on Shivlinga is regarded as Nirmalaya, or the purest and cleanest form possible, and is therefore prohibited from consumption, it is not offered on the deity.

3. Champa And Kewda Flowers
While flowers are not Lord Shiva's favourite. It is believed that Kewda and Champa flowers are cursed by the Lord and should never be presented to him during a puja.
4. Khandit Bael Patra
Among the most revered trees is the bael. It is well-recognised for being a cooling agent and has many other therapeutic uses. Lord Shiva loves bael patra, however, when offered as a sacrifice, it shouldn't be chopped or consumed by insects.
5. Turmeric
Additionally, turmeric (Haldi) is linked to women's attractiveness. Lord Shiva is worshipped without the usage of haldi since he is believed to be the primary destroyer of emotional ties and worldly ambitions.
6. Saffron Or Kumkum
Never pour kumkum or saffron offerings on the Shivalinga since lord Shiva affixes ash on the forehead. It is also a universal truth that Shiva applies ash rather than kumkum.

7. Bronze Pot To Offer Milk/Water
Avoid bronze pans while serving Shivlings with milk or curd. It has to be in a copper pot at all times. It is because according to folklore, it's the same as pouring wine. Additionally, keep your fingers away from the water, milk, and ghee since touching them with your nails is inauspicious.
