Amalaki Ekadashi 2025: Vrat Katha
According to legend, King Chitrasena and his subjects observed the Amalaki Ekadashi Vrat. During a hunting trip, the King got lost and was surrounded by tribes and hunters. Despite being unharmed, he fell unconscious from fear. A divine light emerged from within him, destroying his attackers. When the King regained consciousness, a divine voice revealed that this miracle occurred due to his observance of the Amalaki Ekadasi Vrat.
Another legend from the Brahmanda Purana tells the story of King Chaitratha, who worshipped Lord Vishnu and an amla tree with his subjects. They were blessed with riches due to their fasting. The King and his subjects also worshipped Parashurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu and sang hymns in his praise.
These legends strengthen the belief that observing the Amalaki Vrat brings benefits in this life and the next. It's also believed that Goddess Lakshmi resides in the amla tree, while Lord Krishna and Radha Rani are also believed to be present nearby this sacred tree.
