Anant Chaturdashi 2023: Anant Chaturdashi, also known as Ganpati Visarjan, occurs exactly ten days after Ganesh Chaturthi. It happens on the 14th day of the lunar fortnight and is considered a special day for Hindus to offer prayers. On this day, the ardent devotees of Lord Vishnu observe a fast for the entire day, as well as carry out several pujas and wrist-tying rituals. On this day, massive processions of people dance and chant as they make their way to various water bodies carrying their Ganpati idols for Visarjan. This festival is observed all over India, particularly in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Bihar. This year, the Anant Chaturdashi will be observed on 28th September 2023 (Thursday).
The occasion, which ranks second in importance to Diwali in Jainism, has a great deal of significance. The Digambar Jains, who are the most prominent members of the Jain community, celebrate the Paryushana Parva on the final eight days of the Bhadrapada month. However, Anant Chaturthi is observed on the final day of Paryushan. The lengthy 14-day fast comes to a conclusion on this day, which is celebrated with a variety of Pujas and rituals.
