There are various post-wedding ceremonies held for the bride and groom and one of them is the Griha Pravesh ceremony, which is the welcoming ritual of the bride in her new home. The bride's mother-in-law extends a hearty greeting to the newlyweds during these festivities, which are held at the groom's house.  Apart from the groom's extended family, this ceremony typically involves the participation of the groom's complete family.  The mother-in-law leads the wedding pair in the Aarti. The mother-in-law then applies the bride and groom a Tilak at the Griha Pravesha, and the pair then requests the elders for their blessing. The bride is then expected to use her right foot to tip a Kalash (pot) filled with rice before entering a dish with Alta.  Following this, she is supposed to enter the house and leave behind lucky red footsteps, which represent the coming of Goddess Lakshmi. The Griha Pravesh ceremony must be done in an auspicious muhurat in order to ensure good fortune and prosperity in the house and the happy married life of the couple. Check out the auspicious dates for the Griha Pravesh ceremony for November, December 2023 and January, and February 2024.
