Banke Bihari Prakatya Diwas 2024: The appearance day of Lord Banke Bihari or Shri Banke Bihari Prakatya Diwas is observed every year on the 5th day or Panchami Tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the Hindu Lunar month of Margashirsha. This year, Bihar Panchami or the Prakatya Diwas of Shri Banke Bihari will be observed on 6th December 2024. Lord Banke Bihari is revered as the unified form of Radha and Krishna. Inside the temple, the Radha-Krishna icon stands majestically in the Tribhanga posture. Interestingly, Swami Haridas first worshipped this idol as Kunj Bihari, meaning 'the one who delights in Vrindavan's groves'. 1. Manifested And Worshipped By Swami Haridas Thakur

Swami Haridas originally worshipped the Banke Bihari icon as Kunjbihari. His disciples later renamed it Banke Bihari due to its unique Tribhanga posture. The deity's appearance is celebrated on Bihar Panchami. Initially housed in Nidhivan, the deity idol was relocated to its current temple in the 19th century following a dispute. Today, the temple is managed by the Goswami community, who reside behind the temple.

2. No Bells, No Morning Aarti

Inside the Banke Bihari temple, the deity is uniquely worshipped as a small child. To ensure the child deity isn't disturbed, the temple follows some special traditions. Unlike other temples, there's no early morning aarti, and you won't find any bells inside the premises. This thoughtful approach creates a peaceful atmosphere, allowing devotees to connect with Banke Bihari in a serene and calming environment.

3. Banke Bihari Holds Flute In His Hands Once A Year

Banke Bihari delights his devotees with a special gesture once a year. On the auspicious occasion of Sharad Purnima, the deity is adorned with a flute in his hands, creating a breathtaking sight. 4. Banke Bihari Gives Charan Darshan Once A Year

Devotees of Banke Bihari eagerly await a special blessing once a year - the sacred Charan Darshan on Akshaya Tritiya. On this auspicious day, the deity's lotus feet are revealed for devotees to pay their respects and seek blessings. This rare and sacred opportunity allows devotees to connect with Banke Bihari on a deeper level, filling their hearts with joy and spiritual fulfilment.

5. Making Eye-Contact With Bihari Ji Is Not Allowed

It is not allowed to make eye contact with Lord Banke Bihari Ji. To add to the mystique, curtains are drawn shut every five minutes, briefly interrupting the darshan. According to legend, if a devotee makes eye contact with Bihari Ji and seeks his darshans for too long then Shri Banke Bihari Laal follows that devotee till his home, leaving the temple empty! This unique tradition only adds to the temple's enchanting atmosphere.
