Datta Jayanti 2023: The sacred occasion of Datta Jayanti or Dattatreya Jayanti is observed on the Purnima tithi (full moon day) of Margashirsha Month. This pious event marks the birth anniversary of Lord Dattatreya. The scriptures state that Lord Dattatreya represents the union of the three Gods of the Hindu male trinity - Mahesh (Lord Shiva, the destroyer), Vishnu (the nurturer), and Brahma (the creator). However, some devotees also consider him as a manifestation of Lord Vishnu. This year, Datta Jayanti will be observed on 26th December 2023.

Datta Jayanti 2023: Significance Of This Sacred Day 

Lord Dattatreya is a prominent deity worshipped in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Lord Dattatreya has six arms and three heads. He is adored in his child form on the occasion of Dattatreya Jayanti. In the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, this day is celebrated with great delight and grandeur in many Lord Dattatreya temples. 

All of a person's desires are thought to be granted if they worship Lord Dattatreya with total devotion and observe a fast on the day of Dattatreya Jayanti.

Datta Jayanti 2023: Puja Vidhi/Rituals Associated With This Sacred Day 

On this day, celebrations are centred around the temples dedicated to Lord Dattatreya. The worshippers bathe in sacred rivers and perform a special Lord Dattatreya Puja using camphor, incense, lamps, and flowers.

To follow the path of righteousness, people worship the idols of Lord Dattatreya in their homes and temples.
