Jyeshtha Purnima 2025: In the Hindu calendar, Jyeshtha Purnima, also called Dev Snan Purnima, is highly significant. On Vat Purnima, which is observed in Maharashtra and Karnataka, women tie threads around a banyan tree in supplication for their husbands' long life. Giving to charity is regarded as extremely auspicious on this day, when worshippers ask Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva for their blessings. It is said that taking a bath, particularly in the sacred Ganga, will grant wishes and atone for sins. Jyeshtha Purnima 2025: Significance

Jyeshtha Purnima is linked to the legendary protagonist Savitri, who in her married life personified devotion and purity. Tradition holds that Savitri's husband Satyavan was revived as a result of her unwavering devotion and her entreaties to Lord Yama. Married women worship Brahma, Savitri, Yama, Narad, and Satyavan on this day in hopes of receiving blessings for their husbands' long life and a happy marriage.

Numerous advantages are believed to result from celebrating Jyeshtha Purnima, such as success, happiness and prosperity for the woman and her family. It is believed that married women who fast on this day will have a long and fulfilling married life. In addition to being auspicious, taking a holy dip in the Ganges is believed to grant both physical and mental well-being and fulfil desires. Jyeshtha Purnima is a beloved and significant festival because women perform this puja in an effort to ensure the prosperity and happiness of their families.

Jyeshtha Purnima 2025: Rituals

Bathing, meditation, and good deeds are highly significant on Vat Purnima. Worshipping Lord Shiva in white is thought to solve issues, so this day is also thought to help individuals who are having trouble getting married. On this day, Goddess Lakshmi is believed to reside with Lord Vishnu on the peepal tree. Hence, it is believed that offering water, raw milk, and batasha to the peepal tree will ensure a consistent cash flow and yield financial gains.

On this day, it is also important to offer arghya to Chandra Dev, also known as the Lord Moon, in order to remove barriers and difficulties. Either the husband or the wife may make this offering. A spoonful of milk is also said to shine one's fortune and remove obstacles in urgent work when it is poured into a well.

Women fast on Jyeshtha Purnima and worship the banyan tree, which represents the three Indian gods, Mahesh, Vishnu and Brahma. In order to obtain blessings for their husbands' long lives, they pray to Savitri and recite the Savitri Satyavan Vrat Katha.

Wearing vibrant clothing, applying vermilion and offering sandalwood and turmeric paste to the Banyan Tree are all part of the worship ritual. When the Vrat culminates, the fast is broken with fruits and pulses as prasad.
