Kokilavan Shani Temple: Interesting Facts About This Lord Shani Temple

- Upon his birth in Brijmandal, Lord Krishna was greeted by all the gods and goddesses. In all of these deities, Shani Dev was also present. However, his mother Yashoda forbade Shanidev from seeing Krishna. He was worried that Shri Krishna might be struck by Shani Dev's vakra drishti. Disappointed due to this instance, Shani Dev performed intense penance in Dwaparayuga to appease Bhagwan Krishna. Pleased with Lord Shani's penance, Lord Krishna appeared in the form of a Cuckoo (Kokila). Lord Krishna said that Kokila Forest, which is next to Nandgaon, is his forest. He also asserted that the one who will come here and worship Lord Shani will attain the blessings of Shanidev and Lord Krishna altogether.

- For this reason, the Kokilavan Shani Dev temple is recognised as a Siddha temple. Among the well-known temples in Kokila Dham are those dedicated to Shani Dev, Gokuleshwar Mahadev, Giriraj, Baba Bankhandi, and Dev Bihari.

- All the wishes of those who come here are thought to be realised. In the hope of resolving their concerns, hundreds of devotees from all over the world gather here on Saturdays and depart with their bags full.
