Today, August 30, people are celebrating this auspicious day of Raksha Bandhan with their loving brothers and sisters. This festival is marked on the day of Shravan Purnima. The celebration of Raksha Bandhan includes tying Rakhis on the wrists of beloved brothers, indulging in delectable gourmet foods, and exchanging exciting gift items. However, there are certain do’s and don’ts to keep in mind while celebrating this festival which regards the bond between siblings.
Raksha Bandhan 2023: Do’s and Don’ts Of Raksha Bandhan
- One should not quarrel and indulge in dispute with anyone on this auspicious festival. One must also abstain from abusing anyone on the festival of Raksha Bandhan.
- Avoid tying Rakhi in Bhadra Kaal and Raahu Kaal to avoid the inauspicious consequences.
- Ensure that brothers are facing the east and north direction while performing the Raksha Bandhan rituals. They must refrain from facing the south direction.
- One must take special care of cleanliness on the day of Rakshabandhan as it is an auspicious festival.
- Make sure to tie a rakhi to Lord Ganesh or your beloved deity before tying the rakhi to your brother/s.
- Check the rakhi designs carefully before tying them. Only tie the ones having auspicious symbols like Om, Swastik, and Kalash. Do not tie broken rakhis or the ones having inauspicious designs.
- Brothers must make sure that any sharp object must not be given to sisters as a gift on Raksha Bandhan.
- Brothers must cover their heads with a handkerchief and sisters must cover their heads with a chunni or scarf while performing the Raksha Bandhan rituals.
- Sisters must make sure to tie the rakhi thread on the right wrist of their brother/s. Tying rakhi on the left wrist is considered inauspicious.
