Saraswati Balidan 2025: Significance
In Hinduism, Goddess Saraswati is highly respected as the source of music, wisdom, art, and science. She is part of the Tridevi, which includes Goddess Lakmi and Goddess Kali, and is known for her great influence on creativity and knowledge. The divine animals associated with the goddess are the swan and peacock, and She lives in Brahmapura, where She spreads wisdom and artistry. As the wife of Lord Brahma, who created the universe, it is thought that Goddess Saraswati's knowledge was fundamental in the creation. Students, scholars, and artists worship Her to gain inspiration, intelligence, and good communication skills. Goddess Saraswati is also honoured in Jainism and Buddhism as a guardian deity who protects Gautama Buddha's teachings and comforts followers. Saraswati Balidan 2025: Rituals
Devotees rise early, bathe, and prepare for Saraswati Balidan puja, worshipping Goddess Saraswati with devotion. A sacred Havan is performed, and offerings are made to seek Her blessings and wisdom.
The Uttara puja is conducted, followed by the Balidan ritual, where devotees chant "Om Aim Saraswati Svaha". This mantra invokes Goddess Saraswati's presence, seeking Her divine blessings and guidance for knowledge, wisdom and creativity in their lives.
Coconuts are offered into the Havan Kund's fire, symbolising the sacrifice. The ritual is performed with reverence, seeking Goddess Saraswati's blessings for wisdom, knowledge, and creativity, and to purify the mind, body and spirit.
