Satsang is the companionship of truth. Sat denotes God (Absolute Truth) or Brahmatatva, whereas sung indicates companionship! It is impossible to be in the presence of God directly; hence, the company of saints, who are the apparent form of God, is the finest Satsang. It is not always possible to be in the company of saints. As a result, persons who engage in sadhana (spiritual practice) must attend this spiritual gathering. Satsang is a meeting in which people discuss about God, dharma, spirituality, and sadhana.
Let us check out the importance of attending satsangs and how it benefits the mind and soul.
Importance Of Satsang
In a seeker's spiritual path, satsang is a crucial component of spiritual practice. This is particularly true when a person is just starting out on their spiritual path and spirituality is not yet ingrained in their daily lives. Attending satsang offers seasoned seekers the chance to support other seekers in their spiritual journeys and serve God and other seekers by sharing their experiences.
Benefits Of Attending Satsang
- Satsang makes one courageous and helps one recognise how insignificant worldly things are. Only with God's favour may one acquire this cleansing satsang. Even a little interaction with satsang cultivates our qualities and eliminates all of our flaws.
- The most significant advantage of satsang is acknowledging the visible form of the God-realized Guru who teaches us spirituality. The guru serves as a barrier, protecting us from the mistaken belief that we are this physical body. The Guru is also a weapon, cutting through ignorance by imparting genuine spiritual understanding. To really profit from satsang, one needs cultivate commitment and allegiance to such a Guru.

- Satsang or Katha is like a broom; sweeping dust from time to time keeps everything clean, and attending Satsang on a regular basis helps keep your mind fresh.
- Satsang is intended to remind us that we have a special opportunity to have been born a human being. Only in this manner can we make direct touch with the Creator via a living Master and travel all the way home.
- Satsang reminds us that this isn't our ultimate home. Though we recognise that the creation functions in accordance with the Creator's intention, we no longer desire to be here. It is a foreign world for the soul, which is beginning to reclaim itself after countless aeons and millions of lives in service to the intellect. The soul's desire to leave this spiritually impoverished environment will manifest itself in the conscious minds of real seekers.
