On the occasion of her birth anniversary, let us check out 5 prominent Mata Sita temples in India which you didn’t know existed.
Sita Navami 2024: 5 Mata Sita Temples In India
1. Pulpally Seetha Devi Temple - Wayanad, Kerala
The Pulpalli Seetha Devi shrine in Wayanad, Kerala, is the only well-known Sita shrine in southern India. Since it is also devoted to Luv and Kush, the two sons of Goddess Sita and Lord Ram, the temple is also known as the Sree Pulpally Seetha Lava Kusha Temple. Ultimately, though, the temple honours Mother Earth, who, upon hearing Sita's cries of injustice, takes her away. Therefore, this temple in Wayanad represents Mata Sita's tragic demise, whereas the temple at Sitamarhi represents Maa Sita's birth.
2. Sita Vani Temple - Nainital, Uttarakhand
The Nainital area of Uttarakhand is another place in India that is believed to be the location of Maa Sita's departure from this world. The Sita Vani or Sita Bani temple is located in this district around 20 miles from the town of Ramnagar. One excellent incentive to visit the temple is that it is the location of a large fair that is conducted annually to honour Ram Navami.

3. Punaura Dham Sita Kund - Sitamarhi District, Bihar
The town of Sitamarhi is located in the ancient Mithila area on the state of Bihar's northern border. Legends abound in Sitamarhi proper; the town is regarded as the birthplace of Mata Sita and, therefore, celebrates Ram Navami with much ceremony. Every year, a massive fair is arranged to commemorate the birth of the Hindu god who would one day marry the daughter of this town. The town's Punaura Dham Sita Mandir is a well-known temple devoted to her and is home to the Sita Kund, a water tank supposedly built by her father, King Janak.
4. Sita Samahit Temple - Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh
This temple is also believed to be the spot of Maa Sita's earthly engulfment. The Sita Samahit Temple is situated on the Chandpur-Jalilpur road, approximately one km from Nanore hamlet. This site is special because, while it is a Sita shrine, there isn't an idol of the goddess there. The location also called the Sita Mandir Math, is near another unusual sight, a temple dedicated to Dronacharya, the military mentor of the Pandavas and Kauravas of Mahabharat legend.

Situated in the hamlet of the same name, Sita Mai Temple is believed to be the exact location where Mata Sita was engulfed by the earth. The temple is located in the Karnal region of Haryana, about 19 kilometres from Nilokheri, a town located 143 miles from Delhi.
