Solar Eclipse September 2025: The last Surya Grahan of 2025, or a Partial Solar Eclipse will take place on 21st September 2025. According to the Hindu Panchang, Sarv Pitru Amavasya will coincide with this Solar Eclipse. The Pitru Paksha began on the day of Lunar Eclipse and ends with a partial solar eclipse this month. When the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun and covers part of the Sun's image, a partial solar eclipse takes place.
This eclipse happens at the descending node of the Moon's orbit and will be of magnitude 0.855. The shadow of the Moon will skim the Earth and cause a partial solar eclipse in some areas. The eclipse will be limited to the polar regions of Earth, visible over much of Oceania and Antarctica, and reaching up to 80 per cent coverage in certain regions.

Solar Eclipse 2025 date is 21st September 2025, Sunday. According to the Indian Standard Time (IST), the Surya Grahan will start around 11:00 PM and end at 03:23 AM, 22nd September 2025.

The Surya Grahan in September 2025 will not be visible in India as it is occurring during the nighttime. Henceforth, the Sutak Kaal for this Solar Eclipse will not be applicable in India.

Solar Eclipse September 2025: Visibility Around The World
The partial solar eclipse in September 2025 will mostly be visible over New Zealand, Antarctica and the South Pacific. The eclipse of maximum duration will take place over isolated oceanic regions south of New Zealand. This Surya Grahan won't be seen in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Afghanistan, UAE and most of Africa, Europe, North America and South America. Cities such as Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington in New Zealand and Sydney and Hobart in Australia will be able to see this celestial phenomenon.

In Hinduism, solar eclipses have meanings tied to mythology and cosmology. In the Puranas, it is mentioned that two shadow planets, Rahu and Ketu cause solar eclipses. Rahu, a demon's head, swallows the Sun, which causes the eclipse and Ketu stands for the end. Solar eclipses are a time for spiritual cleansing.
