Somnath Temple Gujarat: The sacred Somanath Temple, also known as Deo Patan, is situated at Prabhas Patan, Veraval, Gujarat, India. As the first of Shiva's twelve Jyotirlinga shrines, it is considered one of the holiest places for Hindus to go on pilgrimage. Named the Eternal Shrine, it is thought to be the place where Lord Krishna concluded his Lila and departed to his celestial abode. 1. It is thought that the temple's Shivalinga has been concealing the renowned Syamantak Mani, also known as the Philosopher's stone, which is connected to Lord Krishna, safely inside its hollowness. It was supposedly a miraculous stone with the ability to turn anything into gold. In addition, the stone was thought to possess radioactive and alchemical qualities as well as the ability to surround itself with a magnetic field that allowed it to float above the earth.

2. Historians claim that since ancient times, people have travelled to the site of Somnath because it is believed to be the meeting place of three rivers: the Kapila, the Hiran, and the legendary Saraswati. The moon deity Soma is said to have washed and regained his brilliance in the confluence known as Triveni Sangam. The waxing and waning of the tides at this seaside locale, or the waxing and waning of the moon, are thought to be the outcome.
3. Hindu scholar Swami Gajanand Saraswati claims that the earliest temple was constructed 7, 99, 25,105 years ago, following Prabhas Khand's customs from the Skand Puran. Mahmud Begada in 1451, Khilji's forces in 1296, Mahmud Ghazni in 1024, Muzaffar Shah in 1375, and Aurangzeb in 1665 all destroyed the temple.
4. The Skanda Purana states that whenever the world is rebuilt, the name of Somnath Temple will alter. It is thought that Somnath will take on the name Pran Nath Temple when Lord Brahma will build a new universe after ending the previous one.
5. According to legend, the temple is located in a location where there isn't any land that runs directly from the Somnath shoreline to Antarctica. According to a Sanskrit inscription discovered on the Baan-Stambh Arrow-Pillar which is erected on the sea-protection wall at the Somnath Temple, the temple is located at a point on the Indian land that also happens to be the first location on land in the north to the south-pole on that specific longitude.

6. The temple is mentioned in some of the oldest Hindu writings, including the Rig Veda, Skandpuran, Shivpuran, and Shreemad Bhagavat. This indicates the temple's significance as one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in India.
7. According to legend, the temple's original structure was created by Moon God, who used gold to build it. Although Lord Krishna constructed it with the aid of sandalwood, the Sun God made it out of silver.
