After a gap of nine years, Indian football is gearing up for a comeback on the Asian Games stage, with both the men's and women's teams aiming to rekindle their past successes.

The men's team is currently riding a wave of optimism, having clinched victories in both the Intercontinental Cup and SAFF Championship. Their recent performance has propelled them up two spots in the FIFA world rankings, breaking into the coveted top 100. Nevertheless, the Asian Games will pose a formidable challenge, presenting them with their sternest test in recent memory.

Conversely, the women's team missed out on the Asian Cup last year due to a COVID-19 outbreak and is eager to deliver a performance befitting the grand occasion. Ranked 11th in Asia, they might have been expected to have a better shot at medaling compared to the men's team. However, an unfavorable draw means they are likely to encounter tough competition in their group, making their journey to success a more arduous one.
