India added two more medals to its tally at the Asian Games 2026 on Thursday, with Roshibina Devi winning silver in Wushu and the Satnam Singh-Salman Khan duo securing a historic bronze in men's double sculls rowing.

Roshibina finished second in the women's 60kg Sanda final after losing 0-2 to China's Zhang Xiaoyu.

The Manipuri athlete thus claimed her third Asian Games medal, having previously won bronze at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games and silver at the 2023 Hangzhou edition.

Roshibina Devi's Silver Medal Haul

Roshibina's silver came after a difficult build-up to the continental event. She had initially lost the selection trial to young Divyanshi Choudhary but was later included in India's squad after Divyanshi suffered an injury.

Divyanshi had subsequently accused Roshibina of harassment after her removal from the squad.

Despite the controversy surrounding her selection, Roshibina produced a strong campaign and reached the gold medal bout after defeating Vietnam's 2023 world champion Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy.

Speaking after the final, Roshibina admitted that she was disappointed at missing out on gold.

"I have won silver earlier and this time also, I could win only silver. I could not give the gold medal to the Indian people. I could not give what everyone wanted," Roshibina said.

"There was a lot of disturbance when I came here for the Asian Games. I did not get much time to prepare. But, my coach (Amit Pal) supported me a lot to reach here. I will try my best in the upcoming Games, learn from my mistakes and come back," the Manipuri added.

Satnam-Salman Win Historic Rowing Bronze

Satnam Singh and Salman Khan, meanwhile, created history by winning India's maiden Asian Games medal in the men's double sculls event.

The Indian pair clocked 6:13.25 at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course to finish third. They were in second place until the 1,500m mark before slipping to third during the final 500m.

China's Yi Xudi and Yide Nie won gold with a time of 6:09.37, while Uzbekistan's Pavel Sorin and Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov took silver in 6:10.49.

India finished 3.88 seconds behind the gold medallists.

For Satnam, the bronze added to his Asian Games medal collection after he had previously won bronze in the men's quadruple sculls at the 2022 Hangzhou Games.

The 26-year-old's journey to the rowing podium began after he switched from national-level handball to rowing around eight years ago. He was inspired by Olympian Swarn Singh Virk, who won gold in the lightweight double sculls at the 2018 Asian Games.

Balraj Panwar Finishes Fourth

India narrowly missed another rowing medal as Balraj Panwar finished fourth in the men's single sculls final.

Panwar clocked 6:54.80 after remaining second at the 500m, 1,000m and 1,500m marks. However, he slipped to fourth in the final 500m.

China's Deng Zhiwei won gold in 6:38.98, leaving Panwar 15.82 seconds behind the winner.
