US Open 2025: Carlos Alcaraz has entered the US Open 2025 quarterfinal after defeating Arthur Rinderknech on Sunday. It took Alcaraz just two hours and nine minutes to win the match, 7-6 (3), 6-3, 6-4.
Alcaraz registered his 58th win of the year and has won 21 of his last 22 matches. Playing in just his fifth US Open, he has qualified for his fourth quarterfinal of the ongoing Grand Slam.
He also surpassed Bjorn Borg and Boris Becker's record of playing in 13 Grand Slam quarterfinals before the age of 23, the most in the Open Era.

During the first set, Alcaraz was forced to play a tiebreak, but then he completely dominated the match. He was able to save two break points during the second set, and after he had gotten the first break of serve, the tide of the match turned in his favour.
After that, he shot 36 winners, whereas Rinderknech committed 28 unforced errors, and that resulted in him losing the plot.
Alcaraz will face Jiri Lehecka during the quarterfinals.
Lehecka beats Mannarino
Jiri Lehecka has qualified for the US Open quarterfinal, defeating France's Adrian Mannarino 7-6, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 in a game that went for about three hours and 14 minutes. This victory also helped Lehecka to reach the ATP top 20 rankings for the first time.
The youngster has qualified for a Grand Slam quarterfinal for the first time post the 2023 Australian Open, where he lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas. Since Lehecka doesn't get affected by rankings, he acknowledged the fact that he felt satisfied by progressing in the ongoing Grand Slam.
“I’m not really looking at rankings, but after every tournament, I do check if the points made any difference. My coach, on the other hand, counts every point—he’s on the live rankings every day, almost every moment. It feels like he’s not doing anything else but that. Reaching this milestone is special, and it was one of my goals for the year,” he told broadcasters during the post-match presentation.
He would be riding high on confidence for his next match, where he will face Alcaraz, even though the Spaniard has a 2-1 head-to-head record against him.
