After a promising start to their Commonwealth Games 2026 campaign, India will look to significantly boost their medal tally on Day 5 as several top athletes compete in medal events across athletics, para athletics, swimming, para swimming, artistic gymnastics and weightlifting. With up to 10 medal opportunities on the cards, Monday could prove to be India's biggest day yet in Glasgow.
The Indian contingent has already enjoyed success in weightlifting, with Mirabai Chanu winning a historic third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold, while Chanambam Rishikanta Singh, Raja Muthupandi and Jhandu Kumar have also contributed to the country's medal tally. Now, the focus shifts to another action-packed day featuring several established stars and emerging talents.

India Targets Big Medal Haul on CWG 2026 Day 5
The spotlight will be on India's weightlifters once again, with Gyaneshwari Yadav, Bindyarani Devi, and V Ajaya Babu all competing in their respective finals.
Athletics fans will be eagerly watching the men's high jump final, where Tejaswin Shankar, Sarvesh Anil Kushare, and J. Aadarsh Ram will bid for podium finishes. Shankar, in particular, heads into the competition as one of India's strongest medal hopes after consistently performing on the international stage.
India will also be represented in para athletics, where Sharmila Dhankar and Shilpa K. Shyla will compete in the women's Shot Put F57 final, while Rakeshbhai Bhatt and Shreyansh Trivedi will take part in the men's 100m T38 final.
Indian Swimmers Aim for Podium Finish
The swimming pool could also deliver medals for India on Monday.
Aryan Nehra will compete in the men's 800m freestyle fastest heat/final, while Olympian Sajan Prakash will aim for a place on the podium in the men's 200m butterfly final.
In para swimming, Swatik Patil could also feature in the men's 100m Breaststroke SB9 final, provided he qualifies from the heats earlier in the day.
Artistic Gymnastics and Hurdles Add to Medal Hopes
India's medal hopes extend to artistic gymnastics, where Protistha Samanta will compete in the women's vault final.
Meanwhile, sprint hurdler Tejas Shirse will look to cap off a strong day for Indian athletics by challenging for a medal in the men's 110m hurdles final after progressing through the earlier rounds.
