Thomas Tuchel has announced England’s 26-member squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Harry Kane will captain the team and is set to play in his third World Cup as the skipper. He now equals the record of Billy Wright, who led England in the 1950, 1954 and 1958 in three World Cups.

The squad was revealed during a live programme from Wembley Stadium on the official England app. Tuchel has mostly kept faith in the players who helped England qualify for the tournament with a perfect record.

Players who will represent England more than two FIFA World Cups

Jordan Pickford, John Stones and Marcus Rashford are also set to appear in their third World Cup. Veteran midfielder Jordan Henderson will feature in his fourth World Cup, matching the England record held by Bobby Charlton. It will also be Henderson’s seventh major international tournament, equalling the overall England record held by Lucy Bronze.

Tuchel included strikers Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins in the squad. However, Cole Palmer missed out after struggling with injuries and inconsistent form this season. Palmer had earlier played a key role in Chelsea F.C.’s FIFA Club World Cup 2025 triumph and also scored in England’s UEFA Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain national football team.

“It is a proud moment to announce an England squad for the World Cup,” Tuchel said. “It was not an easy decision, but I fully trust this group of players. They deserve to be here and we will do everything possible to make the country proud.”
