French Open 2025: The World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka has qualified for the semifinals of the French Open 2025 after defeating Qinwen Zheng in straight sets during the quarterfinals. She won the match by 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 in just an hour.
Sabalenka also made a brilliant comeback after losing to the young Mirra Andreeva during the quarterfinals of the same Grand Slam in 2024. She hasn't dropped a single set in the ongoing Grand Slam and has also qualified for her ninth Grand Slam semifinal of her last 10 matches.
She has also won 34 of 39 matches in straight sets this year. This is more than the number of matches won by any player during a tour (Jessica Pegula - 31 wins). Sabalenka had also featured during the 2023 French Open semifinal, where she lost to Karolina Muchov in straight sets.

"It was a true battle and I had no idea how I could break her back and get back into the first set. I didn't start well and I'm glad I found my rhythm and won," Sabalenka told broadcasters during the post-match presentation.
"I think we're all here for one reason. Everyone wants that beautiful trophy. I'm glad I have another opportunity, another semi-final to do better than last time. I hope that by the end of the claycourt season, I'm proud of myself,” she said.
How Sabalenka pinned Zheng
During the quarterfinal against Zheng, Sabalenka was seen struggling as she had dropped her serve. But then she broke the back and took the match towards a tie-breaker. And then she completely dominated and won the set comprehensively.
During the second set, she did receive an early break but Zheng bounced back brilliantly and broke the back. But Sabalenka didn't hold back and was leading by 5-3 and got another break. She ended the game by scoring her break point of the match.
Sabalnka will lock horns with the winner of the quarterfinal between Iga Swiatek and Elena Svitolina during the semifinal.
