After a successful campaign at the FIFA World Cup in 2026, Iran's national football team has decided to retain their head coach, Amir Ghalenoei. Iran has announced that Ghalenoei has signed a contract extension with the national team until the AFC Asian Cup 2027 in Saudi Arabia.
The 62-year-old experienced coach has been working for Team Melli since 2023. Ghalenoei has made a name for himself so as the Iran national football team has not lost any time in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026. After securing three draws in the group stage, they failed to qualify for the knockout stage by a very fine margin.
Mehdi Taj, the president of the Iranian Football Federation, confirmed this development on Sunday. “Mr. Ghalenoei will remain the head coach of the national team,” he stated.

Amir Ghalenoei's Campaign With Iran
