The Kylian Mbappe saga shows no signs of conclusion, with the star footballer once again strongly linked to fulfilling his childhood dream of joining Real Madrid for the 2024-25 season.
Reports from Le Parisien and ESPN indicate that France captain Mbappe will make a move to LaLiga giants Real Madrid when his contract with Paris St Germain concludes at the end of the season. Mbappe had previously stated that he would not renew his contract with PSG, allowing for a free transfer to another club.
According to sources, the 25-year-old striker is expected to announce a pre-contract agreement with Las Blancos next week. While French publication Le Parisien suggests that the decision to join Madrid for the 2024-25 campaign has been made, negotiations are ongoing, and the deal is not finalised.
The 2018 World Cup winner has reportedly ruled out a move to Liverpool and is leaning towards joining the 14-times European champions on a free transfer. Negotiations are said to be in progress to establish the terms of what could be the biggest contract in the Madrid dressing room for Mbappe.
Media reports from September revealed that Mbappe was willing to forego loyalty bonuses worth up to 100 million euros ($107.84 million) to leave PSG as a free agent. Despite heavy links with Real in 2022, Mbappe opted for a contract extension with PSG, where he has scored 241 times in 288 appearances since his 2018 transfer from Monaco for €180 million.
The news comes amidst earlier reports suggesting Mbappe had "many doubts" about leaving PSG, the club he has considered home. The transfer speculation surrounding Mbappe is expected to intensify in the coming weeks and months.
