Major Sporting Events In 2026: With an eventful 2025 coming to a close, the anticipation for the sporting events has started to build already. Major tournaments such as the Asian Games, T20 World Cup 2026, FIFA World Cup, Tennis Grand Slams, Diamond League, and Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, among others, will occupy the attention of fans.

January, February and March

50 Over U19 World Cup 2026: It starts from January 15 to February 6, where breakout teenage stars like Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre will star for India.

T20 World Cup 2026: The event will be held from February 7 to March 8 in India and Sri Lanka.

Australian Open (tennis): It will take place from January 12 to February 1.

All England Championships of Badminton: It will begin from March 3, when a fit-again P V Sindhu and the rest of the Indian players look to rebuild after a rather disappointing season.

AFC Women's Asian Cup: Indian football fans would have something to look forward to from March 1 in Australia, where the country's team has qualified after a long time.

April, May and June

In June, the women's T20 World Cup will revive the focus on Harmanpreet Kaur and her teammates when they set out to add the top prize in the shortest format to the ODI world title they collected in 2025.

Internationally, the French Open (May) and Wimbledon (June) of tennis and the FIFA World Cup of football will have the fans hooked.

July, August and September

CWG 2026: Commonwealth Games from July 23 to August 2 would be a major highlight where the Indian interest will lie in athletics, boxing and weightlifting.

Hockey World Cup 2026: Both men's and women's editions will begin on August 14 in Belgium and the Netherlands. While the Indian men are assured of a slot, having won the Asia Cup but the women will have to fight for theirs during the qualifiers in March.

Asian Games 2026: The Games will take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.

Diamond League Finals 2026 (Athletics): Preceding this would be the Diamond League Finals (Athletics) on September 4 and 5 in Brussels.

Chess Olympiad 2026: 46th edition in Tashkent in September, though the exact dates are yet to be locked.

December

World Chess Championships is scheduled to take place but the exact dates are unknown.
