The players will head back to the dressing room as scoreline remains 1-1 at the half time. We have witnessed some remarkable intense action in the first 45 minutes of this thrilling fixture and we expect the same on the other side. East Bengal looks in control towards the end of the first half as Mahesh seems to be balling in the middle. That was an incredible through pass from him for the player playing on the left. He followed it by a remarkable long ball towards the right side. There were chances for East Bengal but they couldn't capitalise.

Sadiku should have scored there. The ball was well-received inside the box off a cross from the right flank and Sadiku was in a great position to bag it into the back of the net but his shot went well over the bar.

So that's the booking for Mohun Bagan's skipper Subhasish. The free kick wasn't given to East Bengal but it looks like the yellow card was shown for any kind of argument. He had attempted a foul on Nadha on the sidelines.

MBSG 0-1 EBFC (8')

Can you believe it? We have an early goal as East Bengal take an early lead through a goal from Ajay Chhetri. Mahesh looked silent to see that overlapping run and the cross inside the box was brilliantly put inside the back of the net.

It is to be noted that East Bengal have never beaten Mohun Bagan in the ISL, having lost all six matches in the competition against their long-time rivals.

In contrast, Mohun Bagan SG has faced a downturn, losing their last three matches in the league. The upcoming Kolkata derby is, therefore, not a foregone conclusion. While history and tradition have often favored Mohun Bagan, the current form and momentum indicate a more competitive and unpredictable encounter.

East Bengal FC, in the current ISL season, has showcased its best points return after ten matches, while Mohun Bagan Super Giant is experiencing its second-worst points tally at this stage. The Red and Gold brigade has been unbeaten in their last five matches, demonstrating defensive resilience with clean sheets in their last four outings.

Despite the Mariners holding an eight-point and three-place advantage in the league standings, recent performances suggest that the gap is not insurmountable.

Now, as both teams gear up for their ISL clash, the dynamics have shifted. The Kolkata derby, once characterized by Mohun Bagan's undisputed heavy favorites status, is now a more level playing field.

Months later, East Bengal FC continued their resurgence, winning the Kalinga Super Cup by defeating Jamshedpur FC and Odisha FC. This triumph marked their first national-level title in 12 years, injecting a renewed sense of belief and purpose into the team.

The story took another twist when East Bengal FC, fueled by the momentum gained from the derby win, once again triumphed over their arch-rivals in the Kalinga Super Cup. This victory had a sweeter reward as it propelled East Bengal to the semi-finals at the expense of Mohun Bagan Super Giant, who were knocked out of the competition.

The Mariners have not only secured victories but have done so convincingly, with an aggregate score of 15-2, showcasing their supremacy over their arch-rivals.

The Kolkata derby is an emotion, a festival, it’s culture. It means so many different things to different people that at the end of the day, it can barely be just another football game.

Hello and welcome to the live football score of the Bengal derby match between old rivals - Mohun Bagan Super Giants and East Bengal FC here at the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata.
