Neymar, Al-Hilal forward has expressed his take on the possibility of teaming up with Lionel Messi, his long-time friend, once again.

Messi and Neymar played together at Barcelona between 2013 and 2017 and won a bunch of trophies including a Champions League trophy in the 2014-15 season.

The duo was joined by Luis Suarez to create one of the most lethal forward trios, helping the side win a treble, claiming Laliga, Champions League, and Copa del Rey in the 2014-15 season.

The duo then reunited at Paris Saint-Germain for two seasons from 2021 to 2023 before Messi moved to Inter Miami in the MLS, while Neymar arrived in the Saudi Pro League last summer.

Recently, the Brazilian opened up on playing alongside Messi, saying that he wishes to have that opportunity again.

"Me and Messi playing together again? I hope so, I hope we will get to play together again. He's a great person, everyone knows him. I think he's happy (in Miami), and if he's happy, I'm happy too."

Neymar is currently out of action due to the ligament injury that ruled him out for the rest of the season, having played his last game for the Saudi Pro League leaders against FC Nassaji.

Al-Hilal emerged victorious in that AFC Champions League game, scoring three goals without conceding a single one.

In the absence of Neymar, Al-Hilal have faced no problems so far as they stand nine points clear at the top of the Saudi Pro League after 22 matches.

They have dropped points just twice, playing out two draws all season with Neymar contributing with only a goal and three assists in the five matches he played before getting injured.

On the other hand, Messi is playing his second season at Inter Miami and has contributed with three goals and an assist in three matches in the Major League Soccer.

While Neymar had left Barcelona in 2017, Messi too departed from his boyhood club in August 2021 due to financial crisis at the Catalan club.

Talking about their stats while playing together, Neymar and Messi combined for 67 joint goal celebrations, with Neymar providing 40 of those assists.

56 of those came during their four-year stint at Barcelona, winning multiple trophies including a continental treble and two La Liga titles.

At PSG, they won two Ligue 1 titles but largely failed to replicate their Barcelona numbers with the Paris-based club failing twice in the Champions League Round of 16.
