China Masters 2025: PV Sindhu bowed out of the China Masters Super on Friday after losing to An Se Young in straight games. Sindhu lost the match by 14-21, 13-21 in a match which lasted for 38 minutes, as she was seen struggling against the Korean.

This loss has taken her winless streak against An Se Young to 8-0 in their head-to-head recor. At the same time, Sindhu has won just one match of the eight, and that shows her inconsistencies against Young.

The way she performed on Friday was quite different from what she had done in her earlier matches, where she looked at her absolute best. During the first round, Sindhu had defeated Denmark's Dawall Jakobsen by 21-4, 21-10 and thus maintained her dominance. She then defeated Pornpawee Chochuwong by 21-15, 21-15 during the pre-quarterfinals.

But against Young, she looked rushed and had also committed unforced errors as she tried to give her opponent a hard time. This loss also proved that Sindhu's hopes of qualifying for the semifinal in the BWF World Tour continue.

She might have shown glimpses of her past self since the last few tournaments, but her inability to outclass top opponents has become worrisome.

An Se Young is in excellent form in the China Masters.

At the same time, An Se Young has qualified for another semifinal and will either lock horns with Akane Yamaguchi or Putri Wardani.

Young has been in sublime form till now. She began her stint by beating Natsuki Nidaira 21-13, 21-13, and then defeated Mia Blichfeldt during the second round by 23-21, 21-14.

After defeating Sindhu during the quarterfinal, Young will try to defeat Yamaguchi in the semis.
