India's ace player Rohan Bopanna and his Indonesian Aldila Sutjiadi partner stormed into the semi-final of mixed doubles at the ongoing US Open 2024, after scripting a remarkable comeback victory against Matthew Ebden and Barbora Krejcikova.
It just took one hour and 33 minutes for Bopanna and Sutjiadi to beat the pair of Ebden and Krejcikova by 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 10-7 on Court 5.
Bopanna and Sutjiadi got off to a hinder start as the pair was lagging 3-0 in the first set, however, the duo regained momentum to wrap up the first set in the tie-breaker. The pair of Krejcikova and Ebden did not back down after losing the first set as they took the second set by 6-2, taking the game into decider.
Bopanna and Sutjiadi came out firing from all around the court in the third-set tie-breaker, taking a huge 6-0 lead and eventually wrapping up the match.
Bopanna and Sutjiadi will next be up against either Harri Heliovaara and Anna Danilina & Taylor Townsend and Donald Young.
Earlier, Bopanna and his partner Aldila Sutjiadi rallied from a set down to defeat John Pears of Australia and Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic, securing a spot in the mixed doubles quarterfinals at the US Open.
The eighth-seeded duo won 0-6, 7-6(5), 10-7 in a closely contested match that lasted 1 hour and 13 minutes.

However, Bopanna's campaign in the men's doubles suffered a bitter defeat as he and his partner Matthew Ebden faced a straight-sets defeat to Maximo Gonzalez and Andrés Molteni in the pre-quarterfinals of the US Open men's doubles event on Monday. The pair lost 6-1, 7-5, marking an early exit from the tournament.
