US President Donald Trump attended the FIFA World Cup 2026 final between Spain and Argentina at New York New Jersey Stadium. He was joined by First Lady Melania Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino, with photos and videos of the trio quickly spreading across social media.
Although the United States has hosted several matches during the tournament, this was the first World Cup game Trump attended. The 80-year-old is also expected to take part in the trophy presentation after the final by handing the winners their medals.

President Trump received the FIFA World Cup trophy at MetLife Stadium alongside FIFA President Infantino.

Argentina facing Spain to defend the title
Argentina entered the match hoping to defend the FIFA World Cup title they won in 2022. If they succeed, they will become only the third country to win back-to-back World Cups after Italy (1934 and 1938) and Brazil (1958 and 1962).
Spain, on the other hand, are chasing their second World Cup title and their first since lifting the trophy in South Africa in 2010.
Carlos Alcaraz unveiled FIFA Trophy
Before kick-off, Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz helped build the excitement by bringing out the FIFA World Cup trophy. He was joined by South Korean actress Hoyeon, Spain legend Andrés Iniesta and Argentina’s 1978 World Cup-winning captain Mario Kempes. The four walked onto the pitch together before presenting football’s biggest prize to the crowd inside the packed stadium.
