June 13, 2025 - Anker, the electronics brand known for phone accessories, has asked customers to return its PowerCore 10000 battery packs because they could catch fire. The trouble affects model A1263 sold from June 2016 to December 2022 and covers more than 1.16 million chargers in the United States.
The alert started on June 12 after the company heard about 19 cases of overheating, including two minor burns and damage worth over $60,000. Engineers traced the risk to a faulty lithium-ion cell that sometimes overheats or sparks under heavy use or bad charging.
How to Identify the Recalled Power Bank?
Here are some easy steps to identify if your power bank is the one recalled or not:
- Check the face of the charger - it says Anker,
- Look at the bottom - model number A1263 is printed there.
- Finally, visit Anker's recall page and enter your serial number to see if it falls within the unsafe range.
What to Do If You Own One?
Here are some things that you should do right away as you identify you have the recalled model of Anker power bank:
- Stop using the power bank right away.
- Head to Anker's recall website and plug in your details.
- Snap a clear photo of the model, serial number, and your name. Write recalled in permanent marker and include the date.
- Show proof you dropped the unit at a certified hazardous waste centre.
Now Anker will send you a brand-new replacement, no receipt needed.
Safe Disposal Steps
Here are some important steps to safely dispose of your power bank:
