APPLE'S iPhone 15 series is months away from a debut in India. And for users who plan to buy an older iPhone at cheap rates, reports hint at the discontinuation of some older models. As per a Tom's Guide report, iPhone 12, two iPhone 14 Pro models and iPhone 13 mini might be discontinued after the debut of the 15 series.
Tom's Guide adds iPhone 12 will likely go off the shelves as Apple usually discontinues over three-year-old iPhones. The vacant iPhone 12's territory could be refilled by the iPhone 13 at a lower price tag. Further, Apple generally dissolves its Pro models after a year which could continue this year. This time it could likely be the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, the report adds.
Additionally, the platform speculates the iPhone 13 mini could be discontinued. It cited Apple's discontinuation of the iPhone 12 mini after two years of its service and the poor sales of the 13 mini among the possible reasons. A possible model - the iPhone 14 Plus is still a question mark for the platform. It claims a third 6.7-inch option alongside the 15 Plus and 15 Pro Max would be "superfluous." A price cut may bring it next to the upcoming vanilla iPhone 15. However, being the first model, Apple might consider giving it some leeway.
While leaks and rumours have revealed a lot of information about the upcoming handsets, this report is bad news for users waiting for the next iPhone series to buy its predecessor at a cheap price from the official website. However, even after the outage, you can get your hands on one of these phones at third-party retail and online stores if they have it in stock. The upcoming lineup is expected to debut with four handsets - iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Speaking on a similar note about Apple, according to reports, Apple could debut its mixed-reality headset in WWDC 2023. Further, Mark Gurman, Chief Correspondent for Bloomberg, hints that Apple is testing a MacBook Air 15-inch and new Macs.
