Apple has recently transformed their strategic focus, following the successful introduction of their highly anticipated iPhone 17 series earlier this month, onto their Mac line-up. Analysts and consumers alike eagerly anticipate groundbreaking features across MacBooks, iMacs, Mac minis and Studio systems.

Apple’s Next Wave of Devices After iPhone 17

Traditionally, the company unveils new Macs in October, but reports suggest possible delays due to supply-chain challenges. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing M5-powered MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models, alongside new external monitors.

M5-Powered MacBooks Enter Mass Production

Apple is reportedly readying four MacBook models:

- MacBook Pro (codenamed J714 and J716)

- MacBook Air (codenamed J813 and J815)

We expect these products to have M5 chipsets with no major updates to the designs; we can probably expect those for the M6 MacBooks to come later.

Possible Delay in MacBook Launch

Gurman highlighted that Apple usually introduces their Macs around October, although this could be pushed back to early 2026 due to ongoing supply-chain problems. These delays are not new. M2 PPMs (for M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pro models) first became available back in January 2023.

New Mac Monitors on the Horizon

Apple is also planning to release two external monitors with code names J427 and J527 that should follow a similar release schedule to M5-powered MacBooks; possibly later this year or early 2026.

Other Apple Devices Expected Soon

Alongside the Mac refresh, Apple’s October event is also expected to bring:

iPad Pro with M5 chipset – possibly the first device to feature Apple’s new processor, with a portrait-oriented front camera

AirTag 2 – an updated version of Apple’s tracking accessory

Apple Vision Pro successor – an iterative update to Apple’s mixed-reality headset

Final Thoughts

M5 MacBook Pro and MacBook Air devices may not have substantial design changes, but they are significant in the history of Apple chips. Coupled with the new screens and the updated iPads Pro and other devices in the ecosystem, the upcoming offerings are making the end of 2025 to early 2026 look surprisingly busy for Apple.
