Google Gemini now allows audio uploads across Android, iOS, and web devices, according to Josh Woodward, Vice President of Google Labs and Gemini. Users can upload MP3, WAV files, or any other audio format using the plus icon; free users have up to 10 files that total 10 minutes each; paid subscribers have an extended 3 hour upload limit - perfect for meeting recordings, lectures, podcasts and expanding multimodal AI capabilities with Gemini.
Upload Audio Files In Gemini
In early August, there were indications that Google Gemini might support audio uploads - and now this long-awaited feature has officially arrived on Android, iOS, and the web.

The update was confirmed by Josh Woodward, VP of Google Labs and Gemini, who shared that users can now upload files directly into the app — including the most requested type: audio files.
How It Works
To access Gemini on web or mobile, tap the plus icon and choose to "Upload files" or "Files." Gemini accepts file formats like MP3, WAV and more for upload. Google has also updated their support page with usage limits:
- Free users: up to 10 files per prompt, with a combined audio length of 10 minutes.
- Google AI Pro & AI Ultra subscribers: extended limit of up to 3 hours of audio.
Audio vs Video Uploads
10 minutes may not seem like much, but it's double the limit on video uploads for free users (five minutes for paid subscribers and up to an hour total), making audio an even more flexible solution for tasks such as meeting recordings, lecture notes and podcast clips.
Gemini now supports more input types, giving users more ways to interact with multimodal AI.
