Although online scams are becoming more sophisticated, Google uses artificial intelligence (AI) to fight back. Recently, the company revealed new AI safety features across its main platforms—Search, Chrome, and Android. These tools aim to identify spoofed websites, fake phone numbers, and other phishing notifications before the user gets ensnared. Google aims to stay one step ahead of rapidly evolving scam tactics and fight using advanced technology that can detect unprecedented threats in real-time.

Google Search is now better at preventing harmful websites from appearing in your search results. With the help of new AI technologies, Google is now blocking hundreds of millions of scam pages daily. The company claims its new tools are now twenty times better at detecting fake websites than before. One significant victory: scams impersonating airline customer service support have decreased by more than eighty per cent.

Chrome's Enhanced Protection Gets AI Boost

Google now uses Gemini Nano, an AI model integrated with the user’s device, to enhance the Chrome browser's security by adding stronger protective features. Now Chrome can prevent shady websites from being accessed through instant alerts. This form of protection helps users avoid scams and tricks, even if they are brand new and unpublished.

The AI accessibility feature is currently being applied towards tech support scams, which are some of the most prevalent and dangerous forms of online fraud. Google plans to broaden the scope of this initiative to include other forms of scams as well as Android devices later on.

Stopping Scam Notifications on Android

Chrome conceives that fraud can wear different disguises. With Android, Chrome scans notifications with AI to detect potential deceptive advertisements that surface as fake push notifications. If suspicious, Chrome will notify users and allow the choice of blocking, ignoring, or choosing to continue receiving messages as long as the user deems them safe.

Scammers and con artists may be coming up with more unique strategies every day, but Google has put in motion potent tools designed with AI to make the internet a haven for everyone. Whether you are searching the web online, using Chrome, or even on your Android phone, these new features are designed to prevent fraud from reaching you. While no system is fool-proof, Google’s recent updates have certainly increased the standards for safety on the web and proved that they are real-time user defenders. Constantly trying to stay one step ahead of scams is rather difficult, but with the introduction of AI, the scales are starting to shift in your favour.
