HMD Global, the owner of Nokia's feature phones, has introduced what it terms India's first hybrid phone—the HMD Touch 4G. The device comes at a price point of ₹3,999 and is made for those who wish to have necessary smartphone-like features without entering the full-fledged smartphone segment.
A Middle Ground Between Smart and Simple
The Touch 4G balances functionality and price. It has a 3.2-inch touchscreen with 320x240 resolution, providing users with an intuitive, touch-based interface in a small package. The phone has a 2MP rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3MP front camera — straightforward and sufficient for casual photos and video calls.
Runs on RTOS Touch, Powered by Unisoc
As with most Android budget phones, Touch 4G is powered by RTOS Touch, a light real-time operating system tuned for performance and efficiency. Beneath its surface is the Unisoc T127 processor — an energy-conserving chipset designed for basic use. They provide seamless performance for regular activities such as web surfing and texting without the burden of a full mobile operating system.
Cloud Services with Cricket in Focus
Acknowledging India's passion for cricket, HMD has added its Cloud Phone Service, providing real-time access to live scores, weather updates, and popular videos through preloaded cloud shortcuts. This keeps users connected to live content even with limited local storage.
Essential features and modern touches
The Touch 4G comes with a quick call button for emergencies or voice messages, Bluetooth connectivity, and even Wi-Fi hotspot support — rare at this price. Powering it is a 1,950mAh removable battery, charged via USB Type-C, with HMD claiming up to 30 hours of usage. The phone also gets an IP52 rating, offering protection against dust and light splashes.
Compact Build and Expandable Storage
It tips the scales at 100 grams and has dimensions of 102.3 mm in height and 61.85 mm in width, making it simple to clutch and carry. It has 64MB of RAM and 128MB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB using microSD.
Price and Availability
The HMD Touch 4G is currently available from HMD's website at ₹3,999. Customers can select cyan or dark blue colour variants.
