India is all pumped up to celebrate its 77th Independence Day on August 15. Technology will have a pivotal role to play in the ceremonies lined up for the celebrations. India witnessed massive technological transformations since independence that have helped the country gain a reputed spot in the world. Since 1947, Indians witnessed everything, from massive upgrades in existing tech to the arrival of novel ones that were once a dream.
So, to give you a quick glimpse of the top developments in the tech sector in India, here is a report.
First Satellite Launch
The year was 1975 when India launched its first satellite - Aryabhata, developed by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). According to Firstpost, this launch focused on learning more about solar physics, X-ray astronomy and agronomy. This development laid the founding stone of space exploration in the country.
The Computer Revolution
Rajiv Gandhi, widely credited as the 'Computer Man of India,' accelerated the pace of the introduction of computers in India in the mid-1990s. And the importance of this gadget is something everyone, from a student to a working professional, vouch for today.
National Technology Day: Pokhran Nuclear Test
India's military strength took a wild turn in 1998 as the country conducted five nuclear tests in Pokhran, Rajasthan. Following this development, the day continues to be celebrated as National Technology Day.
The First Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan
In 2008, the stage was set (in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh) for the country's first lunar voyage. The Chandrayaan mission offered insights into the lunar mineralogy, geology and more, the report added.

United Payment Interface
The UPI payments interface is one development that can be called a major tech achievement of the country. This simplified payment mechanism revolutionized money transfers in India. It also proved of massive help at the time of demonetisation in India.
