MICROSOFT'S AI-powered Bing has grabbed headlines in the media for its surprising capabilities. And it is again in the news as India shines to become the top three marketplaces (out of 169 countries) of the new Bing AI. Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president and consumer chief marketing officer of Microsoft, told PTI.

Bing Preview was launched on February 7 and is a result of Microsoft's cash infusion in the OpenAI chatbot model ChatGPT. The capabilities of Bing AI is "increasingly exciting" as it lends responses to questions that search might not be able to answer. Bing is witnessing 100 million daily activities.

"Search has changed and will change. It's not going away. Just like when television came into existence, radio didn't go away, but TV got a lot more excitement. Same will happen here," Mehdi added.

The exciting news does not end here. India leads the charts of image creator market, considering the users count. The Microsoft innovation is having a flattering response from its users across the globe. Plus, the company's newly launched knowledge cards for a "richer" search experience in Microsoft Edge is also popular among Indians.

"We are seeing a Bollywood actor Kiara Advani as the top search in knowledge cards with other actors rounding out in the Indian market. So, seeing great engagement there (in India)," he said.

Further, he highlights knowledge cards and stories which differentiate it from Google. "The feedback is overwhelmingly positive as people prefer it as a new way to search, not just the answers, but the ability to chat and search. That's an important thing because it marks a difference between us and Google," he said. Mehdi further stresses that Bing chat and search are "one integrated" product.

Plus, the company is working to improve the ability to solve maths questions and searches of individual persons. "One of the things that we've made progress with Bing is we're now able to answer those questions, many of those questions that Google cannot do because we're using ChatGPT to help refine… because we're using AI to help answer the question," he said.
