Meta is planning to test optional paid tier subscriptions for Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp users, and this could happen in the coming months, as the tech giant makes a move to experiment with paid services, according to a report. These new subscription tiers will come with access to AI features and a lot more, but AI is the main selling point for Meta right now.

Meta is exploring paid subscription options for some of its AI-powered tools, including the Vibes video generator. The company describes Vibes as a way to turn simple ideas into AI-created visuals, and it was first introduced in September alongside an updated version of the Meta AI app.
What Is Manus?
As reported by TechCrunch, Meta also plans to bring Manus into its subscription ecosystem. Manus is a Chinese AI startup that Meta reportedly agreed to acquire in December in a deal valued at around $2 billion. Even after this integration, Meta Business users will still be able to subscribe to Manus separately.
When the acquisition was announced, Meta said the move would help advance its AI offerings by introducing “agents” — tools capable of carrying out complex tasks with very little user input, such as organising travel plans or building presentations automatically.

What makes Manus different is that it is being claimed that this model can execute and complete tasks independently based on instructions provided to it, unlike other chatbots where users generally have to ask questions again and again.
Although in January, Beijing said that it would go further with an investigation of the Meta deal to determine whether or not it is in contravention of China's technology export laws or national security regulations.
