iOS 18 Leaks: Apple will likely showcase features of iOS 18 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 on June 10. Ahead of a possible announcement, a new rumour claims the company could showcase a new "Passwords" app at the event, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The journalist added this could allow users to log in to websites and software.
According to Bloomberg's sources, this app could debut for iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS 15 for iPhones, iPads and Macs upcoming OS. The software may generate passwords and also keep a record of them. It could use iCloud Keychain, an Apple service that may sync passwords and account details across devices.
This option was earlier hidden within the Settings app or displayed when the user logged in on a website. With the app, the company could aim to help users secure passwords and boost the privacy of their accounts using a dedicated app. The app could serve as a rival to LastPass and 1Password and may allow importing passwords from these apps.

This app could house the list of logged-in accounts and details of accounts, Wi-Fi, Passkeys and more. Similar to its rival apps, the data may be fed into the fields when a user visits a website. Passwords may work across Vision Pro and Windows, allow verification codes and act as an authenticator app. Meanwhile, the company is rumoured to introduce a host of AI features at WWDC.

According to Gurman, the new iPhone OS could get features like AI summarisation for notifications, photo editing, emoji creation and AI overhaul for Siri. For chatbot-like functionalities, the company may partner with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT to iPhones.
iOS 18 Beta Release Date (Rumours)
Apple is expected to announce the developer beta of iOS 18 a few hours after the WWDC 2024 event on June 10. The public beta could arrive next month. As for the stable build, it could roll out in September-mid this year.
