Apple, a Cupertino-based tech giant, just announced the iOS 18 public beta for testers. Soon after the rollout, media outlets were quick to point out a new "Recovered" album in the Photos app. According to MacRumors, the feature could help you recover photos and videos that were lost or damaged. The new feature is showing up in the Utilities section and will display content that is not a part of the Photos Library.

As per the report, users can tap the Recovered album in the Photos app to check for the results. In this space, iOS 18 testers can either delete the image or video permanently or restore it to the album. Media on a device may be lost due to database corruption. Some output may be lost due to problems while saving clicked images in the Photo Library.

Step 1: Open Photos and head to 'Albums'

Step 2: Locate 'Utilities' and choose 'Recovered' album and authenticate with a Face ID or Touch ID

Step 3: Tap a photo or video or use the 'Select' option for multiple selections

Step 4: Now tap 'Permanently Delete' or 'Restore to Library' based on your requirements

According to reports, once a device is upgraded to iOS 18‌, ‌iPadOS 18‌ or ‌macOS Sequoia‌, it will automatically scan for photos and videos that can be recovered. Do note the 'Recovered' tab is only visible if lost photos or videos are found on the device. Also, users should note the feature is not a substitute for the 'Recently Deleted' option and both will continue to coexist.
