Apple AirPods 3: The next-generation AirPods Pro are already generating significant buzz, even though Apple hasn’t officially announced them yet. However, a recent discovery by independent researcher Aaron Perris has sparked fresh speculation about the potential release of the AirPods Pro 3.
According to reports, Apple has made a quiet but notable change in its software code. The updated text now refers to compatibility with “Apple AirPods Pro 2 or later,” rather than just specifying the 2nd-generation model as it did previously. This subtle wording shift has raised eyebrows and led many to believe that the company may be gearing up to introduce a new model.
Interestingly, the updated code includes references specifically tied to future AirPods Pro models. It does not apply to the standard AirPods line, which has a separate string entirely. This detail is being viewed as more than just a routine update. Instead, it’s being interpreted as a potential reference to the upcoming AirPods Pro 3.
As of now, Apple has not confirmed any details about the next-generation earbuds. Still, early leaks and rumors suggest that the AirPods Pro 3 could feature a redesigned body, an upgraded chipset, and enhanced active noise cancellation. There is also talk of expanded compatibility, with cross-platform functionality that could appeal to Android users.
On the health-tech front, the AirPods Pro 3 may include advanced features like in-ear heart rate monitoring and temperature tracking. Some industry insiders speculate that Apple might unveil the new earbuds at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2025, though this remains unconfirmed.
For now, Apple is keeping official plans under wraps, but the language update in the software suggests that something new could be on the horizon—and soon.
