LINKEDIN, a popular social media and communication platform for professional networking, has announced a new method of verification for users, which will allow them to verify their work and act as identity proof. The company is providing a number of verification options with the new system, including using the company email address and Microsoft's Entra-verified ID platform to obtain free digital workplace IDs.
Taking to the blog post, the company has announced that it strongly believes that the verification of the profiles should be free and hence made the verification system free for every user. It is interesting to note that the company is going with a free verification model while other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have already announced a paid subscription.
“Verifying workplace credentials for use on LinkedIn is just one example of how Verified ID can simplify and increase the trustworthiness of digital interactions, whether they involve organisations or individuals. This new method of verification can be useful for background checks, rewards programs, help desk support, and a variety of other situations where proof of workplace affiliation is required. It will also reduce the manual, time-consuming, and costly process of verifying a prospective employee's identity and qualifications,” the company wrote in its blog post.
The users can use their official email addresses to verify their profiles. A user must possess a valid address and certify that they can access it in order to do this. Following the users, the business will send a code to the email address, which the user must enter on the platform to finish the verification process.
For those who are unaware, Microsoft Entra verification will begin to roll out by the end of this month, whereas LinkedIn's verification for employees working in firms with 4,000 or more employees is already available to all LinkedIn members.
