APPLE has already released the dates of this year's Worldwide Developers Conference(WWDC). In the latest update about the company, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has revealed that the tech giant is testing the new Macs and the 15-inch MacBook Air. Further, he adds the processors in the Macs are on par with the M2 chip.

The tech giant is testing the devices with third-party apps to check compatibility, citing developer logs via Bloomberg News, the Chief Correspondent reports. These logs, shared with the news platform, revealed a laptop (possibly the 15-inch MacBook Air) with a CPU similar to the current model but with higher screen resolution is under industrial trials. Apple could likely introduce the machines this year.

"NEW: Apple is ramping up testing of new Macs, including a 15-inch MacBook Air with the same screen resolution as the 14-inch MacBook Pro," Gurman shared on Twitter.

Further, the report said a spokeswoman "declined to comment" on the matter. The chip in the portable machine has eight processing cores and ten GPU cores. It is similar to the M2 chip. Speaking of memory, it could feature 8GB RAM, like the current Air model.

The CPU configuration is bifurcated into four performance-intensive cores and four efficient ones. The resolution is marked as "Mac 15,3" which is the same as the Pro model of the MacBook laptops. But it would be less sharp.

In the report, Gurman adds macOS 14 could debut in the event starting on June 5. Plus the Macs undergoing testing are operating on this software. Significant upgrades to the Mac will come with the M3 chip, representing a 3nm fabrication process compared to the present 5nm. This chip will have enhanced performance with better efficiency.

Other than the two models, the company is working on updates for MacBook Air (13-inch), iMac (24-inch) and entry-level MacBook Pro(13-inch). Speaking of Dev logs, they have been a reliable details provider. It revealed details about the M2 Macs and Mac Pro when they were undergoing closed doors testing.

Meanwhile, since the Cupertino-based tech giant revealed the event timeline, the leaks market is buzzing with the expected product debut and the announcements the Mac maker could make.
