South Korean giant Samsung is gearing up to launch the Samsung Galaxy S24 series in India on January 17 at the Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event. The lineup will likely include three models: Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra. While the rumour mill has managed to leak a range of details about the phones, the latest one concerns the software. To be more specific, the update cycle.
According to Android Headlines, the S24 maker may adopt a strategy comparable to what Google adopted for the Pixel 8 series. This implies that the company may seed updates to the Galaxy S24 series for seven years. The report added that these may not just include security patches but updates for the Android version.
It could be a significant attempt in the Android world after Google to take on Apple in terms of updates. The report also hinted at 'Galaxy AI' features in the camera. As per leaks, the AI features will likely remain free until 2025 on eligible Galaxy phones. The company may mandate users to sign in using a Samsung account to access the features.

Based on the reports, the Samsung S24 Ultra may debut with a 200MP + 12MP + 10MP + 50MP rear and 12MP selfie shooter. Other models in the S24 lineup may sport a 50MP + 12MP + 10MP back and 12MP selfie lens. The phones may sport AI-based capabilities to edit the positions of subjects in a photo.
On a related note, reports hint that the Samsung S24 and S24 Plus may debut with an Exynos chip and the S24 Ultra could run on a Qualcomm 8 series processor in India. Plus, while the prices of the vanilla and mid-model may differ slightly from their predecessors, the Galaxy S24 Ultra could witness a significant price rise this year in India.
