It looks like the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra has the potential to outshine the previous model. With new leaks surfacing, it seems that the new flagship will offer blazing fast charging, improved performance on the camera for low-light photos, and a dual-chip system that changes based on the region. Most importantly, Samsung may keep the 200MP main camera, but it looks like the aperture will be widened for night photo shooting and will be more effective for portraits, making night photography much more effortless.

Expected to launch in 2026, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will compete with the iPhone 17 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro as an industry-leading flagship phone from Samsung. We uncovered everything there is to know about camera upgrades, spec improvements and performance promises that await us both from Samsung in 2026.

Improved Low-Light Photography with Wider Aperture

As per a trusted leaker @UniverseIce, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is likely to keep the 200MP ISOCELL HP2 sensor used in Galaxy S25 Ultra, but with a more f/1.4 aperture (previously f/1.7), the upgrades are substantial.

Why this matters:

  • Better low-light performance: More light means brighter, clearer shots with less noise
  • Shallower depth of field: Improved bokeh for portrait photos
  • Enhanced detail capture: Especially in dim or uneven lighting

Samsung could take advantage of against iPhone 16 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro in comparison tests of night mode photography.

Galaxy S26 Ultra Camera Setup (Expected)

  • 200MP Main Camera – ISOCELL HP2 sensor, f/1.4 aperture
  • 50MP Ultra-Wide Camera
  • 12MP Telephoto Lens
  • 50MP Periscope Lens – Likely with 5x or 10x optical zoom

Samsung is now focusing on refining the image captures by their phones for professional, low-light light and night photography.

Next-Gen Chipset Strategy: Exynos 2600 vs Snapdragon 8 Elite 2

Samsung is expected to continue its split chipset strategy:

  • Europe & select markets: Exynos 2600 (Samsung's first 2nm chip)
  • North America & Asia: Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship)

This 2nm process promises enhanced power efficiency, speed, and weaker heat dispersion, all important for gaming, multitasking, and camera performance.

Performance and Charging Upgrades

An additional improvement that I welcome is the increased charging speeds. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumoured to support 60W fast charging, and that would be an increase from the current 45W limit.

With that and a 5,500mAh battery, we might finally get an Ultra model that both charges and lasts for a significant amount of time.

Conclusion

If the rumours are true, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra would heavily refine the rest of the model with faster charging, better low-light photography, and a new powerful chipset combo. The phone might still have the same design, but with all the new features added, the Ultra would be getting “new” internals.

The S26 Ultra is not attempting to redesign the wheel. It is set to refine and perfect the wheel. The rumoured release date is early 2026, but more information is expected to be unveiled when the date draws near to the official announcement.
