Samsung only just rolled out One UI 8 to its phones, but work on the next big update is already underway. Early builds of One UI 8.5 have surfaced, revealing fresh design tweaks, accessibility features, and most notably, a new Private Display/Privacy Display mode that ties into the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s rumored display tech as Android Authority reported in their latest apk breakdown. In this article we will discuss everything we know about it.

iOS-Inspired Design and Accessibility Upgrades

One UI 8.5 will bring visual refinements inspired by iOS 26, alongside new features such as a photosensitive epilepsy protection system. The leaked code also hints at first mentions of Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, suggesting Samsung is prepping the ecosystem for launch.

What Is a Private Display?

The standout discovery is a Private Display (or Privacy Display) mode. This feature limits screen visibility from side angles, preventing prying eyes in public. According to the leaked build, it can:

- Auto-enable in crowded places when sensitive apps are open

- Offer two privacy levels:

Maximum Privacy: Dims the screen further for extra protection

Manual Settings: Lets users define how and when the feature activates

Manual settings may allow customization, such as:

- Choosing specific apps (like banking or messaging apps)

- Scheduling when Private Display should activate

Powered by Flex Magic Pixel Technology

This feature reportedly relies on Samsung Display’s Flex Magic Pixel technology, which uses AI to adjust pixel behavior and narrow viewing angles. That means it could be exclusive to newer hardware — namely, the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Release Timeline

Samsung has yet to officially introduce One UI 8.5, though leaks suggest its debut will coincide with Galaxy S26 flagship models sometime early 2026. Leaks indicate this could introduce privacy and UX refinements.
