Spotify is rolling out a new feature that allows users to remotely download playlists to their Galaxy Watch, making offline music access easier than ever—no more navigating the tiny screen on your wrist.

Download From Phone to Watch—No Proximity Required

With this new feature, users can now initiate music downloads to their logged-in devices—including smartphones, tablets, and Wear OS smartwatches—directly from their Spotify app. If you own a Galaxy Watch, you can download playlists straight from your Galaxy phone or tablet without needing to operate the Spotify app on the watch itself.

Here’s how it works:

Tap the three-dot menu next to any playlist in the Spotify app.

Select ‘Download to other devices’.

Tap the Download icon next to your Galaxy Watch’s name.

The feature works even if the watch is not nearby, offering full remote control for managing offline content.

Cross-Platform Compatibility

This capability isn’t limited to Galaxy devices. It also works with iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches, broadening the feature’s utility across major ecosystems.

Better Download Management

Spotify is also adding a new ‘Manage Downloads’ section in the options menu. This lets users:

  • View which devices have a specific playlist downloaded.

  • Free up space by removing downloads from selected devices.

  • Keep track of your five-device download limit under Spotify Premium.

Tested and Verified

We tested the feature on a Galaxy S23 Ultra running One UI 7 and a Galaxy Watch 4 with Wear OS 5.0. Downloads initiated from the phone completed successfully on the watch without any glitches.

Premium-Only Access

There’s a caveat: this remote download feature is exclusive to Spotify Premium subscribers. Free-tier users won’t be able to use offline download features at all.

Final Thoughts

Spotify’s new remote download tool brings convenience, especially for smartwatch users who want music on the go without fiddling with small screens. For Premium subscribers, it's another valuable perk that enhances cross-device control and offline music accessibility.
