IT'S A new day, and we are back with the latest news on WhatsApp. The messaging platform constantly grabs headlines for adding new features and testing the upcoming ones. Continuing that series, WhatsApp is working on a search option to filter results in the settings within the app on Android, WABetaInfo reports.
In the version marked 2.23.8.20, the company is adding functionality that will allow a user to scan through the options in the settings via a search filter. Currently, the feature is live for "some beta" users. Moving to iOS, the Meta-owned app is working on video messages on version 23.7.0.77, the WhatsApp enthusiast reports. Here are the details about these two features.
Search for settings
With the functionality, a tester can scan through the search options by entering a keyword in the search bar in settings. It will save time and help the user reach the desired option without juggling through menus and options.
After updating the app to the latest available version, a beta user can head to settings to check if it is available in their app. A tester can download it via Google Play Store after gaining Beta access.
Video messages
Under development at the moment, this feature will allow a user to record up to 60-second videos in the form of a message and share them with the recipient. Via a screengrab, in the chat list, a preview marked as "Video Message" has been shared by the platform. To send a video message, the clip should be recorded in real-time, the news tracker adds.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp announced its 'Stay Safe' campaign, intending to broadcast the security features available in the app. Emphasis was given to - 'Two-Step Verification', 'Block and Report' and settings adjustments for privacy and groups.
Two-factor authentication is a security layer that requires an additional code to access WhatsApp on another device. Further, if an account is bothering you for some reason, the option to block and report is available in the app. Lastly, to manage privacy and prevent a user from being a part of unwanted groups, adjustments to settings were highlighted.
