MICROSOFT is rolling out its Bing AI Image generator to the Edge sidebar. With the move, Edge is the first (and the only, claims the tech giant) browser to have an integrated AI image engine. It will help a user generate graphical output based on textual input to the AI model. The company shared this via a blog post.
Powered by the latest DALL-E from the AI research company OpenAI, the feature will be available in the updated version of Edge. We could find it in the 112.0.1722.34 (64-bit) version.
After updating the Edge browser, we could trace the feature in the sidebar below the Outlook icon. After signing in, we were greeted with a "Surprise me" option. On clicking, it had an automated prompt that read, "a boy wearing a yellow raincoat holding a red balloon, standing in front of a smokey volcano, digital art." After hitting enter, the results were pretty surprising.
In the first AI image, the boy was wearing a red raincoat and the balloon was yellow. This hints at a colour interchange. In the second, he was not holding the ballon. The third one was the most accurate output. Lastly, the fourth one was again pretty close to the second image, with less smoke in the background.
A user can enter the prompt explaining to AI the visuals they expect in the output. Once the output is processed, you can opt from the four options the AI model generates. To use the Bing Image Creator feature, a user will have to enable it from the '+' icon and turn the toggle on to enable it.
You can try out the new feature after logging in with a Microsoft Account. A new user is granted 25 boosted generations. No waiting list to try the Image Creator is available. The tool currently supports English prompts only. The image output generated by the AI model comes labelled with a "modified Bing icon" at the bottom left corner as an identification mark that is not a real image but rather AI's creation.
