WhatsApp, which has been testing a lot of features with an aim to enhance the user experience, is now testing a new feature. With the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.24.4 update which is available on the Play Store, the company has rolled out the Alternate Profile feature. The new feature will offer users an extra layer of security and privacy.

The Alternate Profile feature is configured to be available inside the user profile privacy settings, according to WABetaInfo, a reputable source for WhatsApp news and updates. With the help of this creative function, users can set up a different name and profile photo that will be shown to people who are not on their contact list. In simple terms, the Alternate Profile makes sure that those who aren't on your contact list still see a different profile picture and name if you've decided to limit the appearance of your profile photo to just your contacts.

Users can continue to benefit from enhanced security and privacy even when the ability to choose a WhatsApp username becomes available in the future by creating an Alternate Profile.

The Alternate Profile will come in particularly handy as a lot of users choose to restrict who may see their profile photos to their contacts. This way, those who contact you through your username can still access your profile, even though it's not the same as your main profile.
